Introduction

Mobile apps are the second major way that listeners can enjoy your station’s output. Radioplayer provides apps for most of the major platforms including iOS, Android, Windows 8 Phone and on Kindle.

There are a few things you need to do and provide in order to ensure your station is featured in the apps. These articles will point you in the right direction.

If you’re not in the mobile apps already then you need to ask your streaming provider to organise some mobile-friendly streams. Use our bitrates/codecs guide for this (you can share the link with the streaming provider if need be) Once you’ve got that, you need to update your station profile in the Station Control Panel and provide us with the streams. Note: if you usually provide metadata to us via an XML feed, then the mobile streams must be updated in the SI XML file.

We also need some images – 288×162 and 160×90. We may have these already and again if you check your station profile, you’ll see whether we’ve got them or not.

Also in this section you can learn about some of the more advanced options including how to customise your station screen in the app.

We’ve put together a handy guide to get you set up quickly in Radioplayer. As you know, the Radioplayer console is a browser-based application which is hosted by your station, so before you begin, you’ll need someone who knows their way around your website and has FTP access.
